Air In Summer's Review
Short but Sweet
Story: In the summer is a short 2 episode prequel to AIR TV. You won’t learn anything new if you’ve already seen all the episodes to AIR, but this 2 episode special is still worth your while. You’ll get to witness more of Kanna, Uraha, and Ryuuya’s journey.
Animation: Still looks great! Lots of detail in the environment and characters. If you’ve already watched AIR, you’ll already know what to expect.

Sound: Voice acting is still superb. Environmental sounds are great. Forest scenes will make you feel like you’re there. It’s THAT convincing. Soundtrack isn’t anything new. They still use the original soundtrack from the core series.
Characters: Humorous and charming. Ryuuya’s your typical laid back master swordsman samurai with a sense of honor. Uraha is… a little tough to describe. I guess the kind hearted funny one sums it up for her. And then there’s Kanna, the wing being that’s in search of her mother. She’s got a angry childish attitude but not in the annoying spoiled brat kind of way. She has high moral standards and cares alot about her friends. You’ll develop a stronger connection with these 3 characters in this short 2 episode special.
Enjoyment: Only 2 episodes, but well worth the watch. There’s a short, but entertaining fight scene in the beginning. The rest of the trip is full of humorous scenes and the occasional deep one.
Overall: Air in the summer may not be important to the overall AIR series, but it’s still very fun to watch. If you enjoyed AIR, you’ll enjoy the IN THE SUMMER special. Think of this as a desert. The purpose of this short 2 episode special is to be a treat for those that want a little bit more of AIR, or just wanna go a little bit deeper in these 3 characters adventure. One way or another, you’re not missing anything if you skip this 2 episode short. However, there’s also nothing wrong with having your cake after dinner. IN THE SUMMER is a delicious piece of cake that won’t leave you bloated. ^_^
