Both talks about a kid searching for something. In "One Piece" a kid named Luffy travels over sea in search of a treasure that was hidden by a legendary pirate. He possess a supernatural ability after eating a special kind of fruit that changes his body into rubber. He gathers teammates and travel in search of the legendary One Piece. As in "Hunter X Hunter" a kid named Gon. When he was a baby his father left him with his mother in order to protect them. When Gon grew up he learned about how his father was a legendary hunter. Inspired by his father he took the hunters test to find his father and finding himself in a long journey.
