    1. Similar to Kiba 19 Feb 2012

    Hi, I’m currently looking for something similar to Kiba (or InuYasha or Fullmetal Alchemist (without the funny faces)).
    So in core
    - something with a strong main character
    - that takes you away from the normal
    - and kind of stirs you along the way

    Any recommendations please?

    So an adventure anime with a bit of romance on the side? Then I have to suggest my favourite show Rave Master.

    Nah, that one has funny faces in it.

    I think the request at hand is for something like Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto.

    Chrome Shelled Regios.
    It has a strong main character.
    It takes you away from the normal in the sense that it is set in a fantasy world.
    Mmm does not really stir along the way, was entertaining as i remember.

    Shakugan no Shana.
    It has all three.

    Xam’d.
    Maybe a bit of an odd one, but give it a shot if you have not found stuff you like yet. The main character is not strong from the start.
    Takes you far away from the normal ;).
    Very stirring links to war and war like situations.
    Though some episodes with a lot of talk talk talk.
